About Songs
We listen to songs everywhere around us whether we are traveling, gymming, clubbing or relaxing etc. These are all those moments in our lives where music plays a vital role. It lifts our spirit, boosts our mood and helps in mental healing.
It doesn’t matter what language the song is produced in or whether it has vocals or is an instrumental version. They could be English songs, Hindi songs, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Haryanvi, or just instrumentals.
The song could be of any genre like Latin, African, Brazilian, Reggaeton, pop, Hip-Hop, EDM, Folk, Rock etc. The song could be an old one or a latest one displaying several emotions like happiness, sadness, love, patriotism etc.
All of those songs or instrumental music help us describe our feelings, make our life events memorable, and help us destress in our difficult times.
It would be wise to say that songs have become an inevitable part of all of our lives.
Songs can be made using one or multiple instruments. It depends on the songwriters what kind of feel they want to give to their musical compositions and accordingly they can select musical or electronic instruments, drum machines, audio effects, etc., to create their original music compositions.
Drums, Bass, Music, Melodies, and Fx are elements that go into the making of any genre of music. It is the sounds of each of these elements coupled with the arrangement or the structuring style makes a song of a particular genre.
So to keep it simple, to produce music of a particular genre, we need the sounds of that genre, then create patterns with those sounds and layer them in the structure, as per the arrangement style of that particular genre.
The structure of any track comprises of Intros, Verses, Pre-Choruses, Choruses, Drops / Hooks, Build-ups / Pick-ups, Outros, etc.
The style of layering elements in these sections of a song varies genre-wise. It completely depends on the producer’s creativity and they can completely decide on the elements they want to have in their tracks.
For eg. In one song the producer may choose only Intro, Verse and the Drops, whereas in another song he/she may choose more sections inclusive of Intro, Verse, Pre-Choruses, Build-ups, Drops etc. Producers can decide on the structure creatively as needed in their songs.
Stages of Music and Audio production:
• Music Programming (Creating elements for our songs).
• Arranging Music (Structuring the elements to give a flow to our tracks).
• Sound design (Working on unique sounds).
• Audio Mixing (Balancing song elements in a way that each element of the song has its own space and is clearly heard).
• Audio Mastering (Balancing the audio throughout the frequency spectrum to achieve sonic consistency so that the song sounds balanced on all music systems).
Finally, we can create our original tracks with lyrics (Vocal Versions) or without (Instrumental Versions).
For new producers, it may not be possible to write and record lyrics themselves. They may not have the resources for these. In such cases, producers can release Instrumental Versions of their original tracks which are also accepted well by the audience today.
